Sweden grants $3.6m to support governance reform initiatives in Ethiopia

Sweden has signed a $ 3.6 million agreement with UNDP and Ethiopia to support new and existing governance reform initiatives including justice system reform in the east African countries.

The agreement was signed today by Swedish State Secretary of International Development Cooperation, Per Olsson Fridh, UNDP Ethiopia Resident Representative Turhan Saleh and Ethiopia’s State Minister of Finance Admasu Nebebe.

This afternoon, Ethiopia’s Minister of Peace, Muferiat Kamil and Per Olsson Fridh discussed on peace building, democracy and how Sweden can support Ethiopia in this time of transition.

Muferiat said Ethiopia and Sweden have a long-lasting relationship and will continue their cooperation into the future.

Per Olsson Fridh appreciated the Ethiopian democratic reform and affirmed that Sweden is in full support of the new reform.
